After her daughter’s death and divorce, with resilience and determination, Deborah Pryce harnessed the pain and negative energy she was dealing with and plunged into her work as a U.S. state representative (1993 to 2009). This focus and drive paid off; Pryce became the highest- ranking Republican woman in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives when she served as the House Conference Chair from 2003 through 2005.

The theme of our 2012 community directories is Resilience: Stories of Innovation & Inspiration.  In our Columbus area directory, Deborah shares her life story and advice about resilience:

“Becoming the first woman to chair the U.S. House of Representatives’ Republican Conference is my proudest professional achievement,” says Pryce. “I hope my four years in that position will inspire more young women to consider political roles. Our country could use the influence of a few more good women in Washington!”
