Cathy Lindemann on Leveraging Resources

Cathy Lindemann is the owner and President of Evolution Creative Solutions that specializes in finding creative solutions for businesses.  It “fills the gap” with creative design, web, social media and print solutions.  Read on to learn about the internal business solutions and processes that Cathy has used to leverage resources and grow her own company.

Q.What drives your passion for your business?

My passion for Evolution is driven by wanting to help companies be the best they can be. This flame is stoked each and every day by the creativeness of it all and helping each customer in the unique way they need help. I never want to put out a one-size fits all type of product.

Q.What is one significant challenge that you have faced in growing your business?

One of the greatest challenges that I have faced in growing Evolution is having and using the right resources to take my company to the next level.

Q.What are same ways that you have done to effectively address this challenge?

Find the right job for employees: One thing I have found to be very effective is rotating employees until I find the right fit for their job. One would think it is easy to find quality employees in this job market, but that is not necessarily the case. It took me a little while, but we are finally where we need to be and are looking to grow.

Delegate: Learning to delegate responsibilities has been an important tool as Evolution expands. When things are small, it is not as difficult to touch everything that comes in and goes out. However, as a company grows, it is no longer possible to do so. Delegating is a key in successful growth.

Communicate: Hand in hand with delegation comes communication.  Communicating out expectations is very important. The resources you have cannot be used to the best of their ability unless they know what is needed and when.

Processes: Having the correct process in place for workflow has been crucial. The willingness and ability to constantly update these processes to make them work more effectively has been very helpful for Evolution.

Q.What advice do you have for other women business?

In all honesty, the piece of advice that I feel would be most helpful for other women is to have a piece of business in place up front to give consistent cash flow. I have seen many businesses with great plans fail due to lack of cash flow as a start up. In addition, have a solid method in place for lead generation and a marketing plan. I have found these things to have been very helpful when starting Evolution.
